BARC Wk 52 : Sun TV, Asianet, Colors Kannada and Star Maa retain leadership in South markets

Mumbai: The BARC week 40 ratings for the period Saturday, 29th September 2018 and Friday, 5th October 2018 has unveiled the ratings of the regional GEC’s and their performances this week. The leaders of the South regional GEC’s are seen retaining their dominance in week 40. While the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam market has witnessed a slight rearrangement in the order of the GEC rankings, the order of Kannada GECs remains the same.

Tamil GEC market

The market leader Sun TV has continued its leadership position with 985980 (000s) impressions followed by Star Vijay 515479 (000s) impressions that has climbed to the runner up slot with Zee Tamil 509335 (000s) impressions has dropped to the 3rd place with just a difference of 6144 (000s) impressions, the tug of war between the two channels is getting intensified week on week whereas both the channels are continuously bolstering their programming line – up. The market leader’s movie channel KTV 347075  (000s) impressions is placed in the 4th place and the recently revamped Sun Life channel 91456 (000s) impressions is the new entrant to the top 5 Tamil GECs list this week.

Telugu GEC market

Star Maa 763931 (000s) impressions is seen topping the Telugu GEC market in week 40 with a marginal rise in viewership followed by Zee Telugu 505943 (000s) impressions which has also shown a progress in its viewership, ETV 459036  (000s) impressions has stepped down to the 4th slot giving way to Gemini TV 472476 (000s) impressions to occupy the 3rd place. Gemini movies 199876 (000s) impressions with has retained the 5th place in the chart.

Malayalam GEC market

The Malayalam GEC ratings in week 40 is seen dominated by Asianet 323998 (000s) impressions, its major strength being its fiction shows that rule as the top programs of the market. Surya TV 90573 (000s) impressions has emerged as the runner up this week pushing  Flowers TV 87558 (000s) impressions to the 3rd slot. Mazhavil Manorama 84830 (000s) impressions and Asianet movies 79566 (000s) impressions stood at the 4th and 5th places respectively.

Kannada GEC market

Colors Kannada 486378 (000s) impressions leads the Kannada GEC market, with a strong programming line up of its fiction shows, Zee Kannada 416785 (000s) impressions has retained its 2nd slot, with Comedy reality show Comedy Khiladigalu Championship emerging as one of the top rated shows this week. The other channels Udaya TV 205259(000s) impressions, Udaya Movies 175734 (000s) impressions and Star Suvarna 157461 (000s) impressions has managed to retain their position of 3rd 4th and 5th places respectively.
