Mumbai: In a major development for Indian cinema, Vinod Bhanushali’s Bhanushali Studios Limited and acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s True Story Films have announced a strategic collaboration to co-produce a slate of three films, set to release across 2025 and 2026. The deal includes a significant foray into regional cinema with a Gujarati-language feature, signaling a shared commitment to authentic, impactful storytelling.
The yet-to-be-titled projects will span multiple genres and languages, aligning with Hansal Mehta’s signature style of deeply rooted narratives with broad thematic relevance. The collaboration represents a confluence of creative vision and commercial scale, aiming to push the boundaries of Indian storytelling.
“This collaboration with Hansal and the team at True Story represents an exciting chapter for Bhanushali Studios as we continue to champion stories that are authentic and culturally rich,” said Vinod Bhanushali, Founder and Chairman of Bhanushali Studios Limited. “The inclusion of a Gujarati-language film holds special significance for us, as we aim to bring regional narratives to a broader audience.”
Known for powerful and socially conscious films, Hansal Mehta’s recent credits include The Buckingham Murders—which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival—and his much-anticipated biopic on Mahatma Gandhi. The new slate is expected to uphold Mehta’s cinematic ethos while leveraging Bhanushali Studios’ robust production and distribution capabilities.
Hansal Mehta added: “Collaborating with Vinod and Bhanushali Studios gives us the freedom to push boundaries with stories that are both urgent and personal. This slate reflects the kind of cinema that challenges, resonates, and endures. We’re excited to amplify these voices and bring them to life on screen.”
While specific details regarding cast, directors, and production timelines remain under wraps, both production houses have confirmed that further announcements will be made in the coming months.
This partnership marks a significant step in India’s evolving cinematic landscape, promising a blend of mainstream appeal and meaningful narratives across regional and national markets.
