Mumbai: Billabong High International School Malad, collaborated with LS Digital, an independent digital marketing transformation (DMT) company, to spearhead an campaign titled “Future Re-imagined”, to foster creativity and innovation among its students. This initiative was led by Dr. Radhika Srinivasan, Principal, Billabong High International School Malad, aimed at empowering students to envision a new world, driven by the transformative power of AI. The Campaign garnered over 2.3 million views across social media platforms.

Billabong High International School Malad embraced a forward-thinking theme, named ‘New Year, New World’ and it looked to set a positive and refreshing tone for the start of the New Year. To bring these imaginative visions to life, 100 students who participated, were organized into groups, each comprising of five individuals spanning from Grade 2 to Grade 9. Collaboratively, they penned essays encapsulating their collective vision for the future. These written compositions were then transformed into prompts and input into an artificial intelligence (AI) tool, transcending words into visuals.

Dr. Natasha Mehta, Head of Academic Research and Development at Lighthouse Learning Group, expressing her enthusiasm for this initiative, said “We are overwhelmed by the response and appreciation from our parent community at Billabong High International School Malad and across our schools. This pioneering initiative marks a significant milestone in educational innovation, demonstrating the power of creativity and technology to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders – our young learners. Our students were tasked with contemplating various aspects of the future, ranging from the destiny of India in 2060 to the evolution of transportation, the technological landscape, healthcare advancements, and the conception of smart cities. The diverse array of topics encouraged students to think beyond the conventional, propelling them to become architects of a future world.”

The culmination of this collaborative effort materialised in an art exhibit hosted at Billabong High International School, Malad on the 20 January 2024. The exhibit showcased 20 representations of the students’ futures.

Manesh Swamy, CCO and SVP, LS Digital said, “Our interactions with students at Billabong High International School have always left us spellbound. Their thought process, the way they fearlessly think, communicate confidently, and have unique ideas, most of this is because of the differentiated approach to teaching and learning at the school. Students today are constantly exposed to and immersed in technology, with this initiative we thought of merging students thoughts with generative AI and bringing their ideas to life. We approached this more like a social experiment, while creating these images we wanted to stay true and close to the student’s imagination. The results are an incredible mix of generative AI and traditional graphic design coming together to breathe life into these students visions. The reaction of parents and students to the AI expo told us that we did a great job of bringing it alive. The best part of this ‘Future Reimagined’ campaign is that the students at Billabong High International School are even more keen to learn and experiment with Generative AI, and we will be felicitating a series of workshops for them in phase-2.”

As the world evolves, so does the education landscape, and Billabong High International School’s “Future Re-imagined” campaign aims to prepare students for the world ahead. By integrating AI into the creative process, the school said that it has provided students with a hands-on experience of how technology can be a powerful tool for expressing and visualising ideas.

With this collaboration, LS Digital and Billabong High International School managed to conceptualise and execute a campaign that pushes the boundaries of traditional education. Together, they have embarked on a journey, harnessing the latest in AI technology to bring the visions of young students to life like never before.
