With Mental Health getting much needed attention in the Union Budget’22, CNBC-TV18 launched a dedicated series on the topic.

The show, “Mind Matters: An Invitation to Wellbeing”, was launched in the presence of FM Nirmala Sitharaman, who stressed upon the importance of Mental Health and wellbeing and expressed support for the initiative.

The show delved into the various concerns related to mental health, and shed light on taboo topics such as addiction and suicide prevention, with season 1 of the show concluding on 28th July’22.

CNBC-TV18 brought on the most prolific guest speakers and doctors who spoke on a vast spectrum of topics, with the show following a three-pronged holistic approach of ‘Awareness’, ‘Acceptance’ and ‘Action’, in order to push out accurate and valid information and solutions on this sensitive issue.

Influential business personalities and thought leaders like Bernard Looney, Global CEO of BP; Punit Renjen, Global CEO of Deloitte; Laxman Narasimhan, Global CEO of Reckitt Benckiser; Arundhati Bhattacharya, Former Chairperson of SBI; Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India; Falguni Nayar, Founder & CEO of Nykaa.com, shared their thoughts and insights with CNBC-TV18 around mental health.

Season 1 of the 10-part fortnightly series was kicked-off in collaboration with the Live Love Laugh Foundation as the ‘Knowledge Partner’. The launch episode saw Abhinav Bindra, Olympic Gold medalist and Anisha Padukone, CEO, Live Love Laugh Foundation, in a thought-provoking conversation with CNBC-TV18’s Sohila Bajaj to highlight the importance of mental health in today’s fast-paced world. This was followed by the episodes focusing on, ‘Understanding Depression’, ‘Coping with Grief’ and ‘Promoting Mental Wellbeing’ with Dr. Shyam Bhat, Psychiatrist, Integrative Medicine Specialist and Chairperson, Live Love Laugh Foundation; ‘Mental Health in Youth and Adolescents’ with Dr. Trinjna Khattar, Psychotherapist, IEC; ‘Understanding Addiction’ with Dr. Pratima Murthy, Director, NIMHANS; ‘The Nuances of Bipolar Disorder’ with Aparna Piramal Raje and Narendra Kinger, Clinical Psychologists; ‘Corporate Wellness’ with Dr. Amit Malik, Founder & Psychiatrist, The Inner Circle; ‘Suicide Prevention’ with Dr. Soumitra Pathare, Director, Centre For Mental Health Law & Policy, and ‘Women’s Mental Health’ with  Dr. Syeda Ruksheda, Psychiatrist, Trellis Family Centre.

Commenting on the purpose and impact of this series, Shereen Bhan, Managing Editor, CNBC-TV18, said, “Mind Matters has been our effort to help mainstream the conversation on mental health and help create a constructive platform to champion change. Through the series, we addressed issues related to mental health with the seriousness and sensitivity that it deserves. We touched upon several taboo topics such as depression, anxiety, addiction, suicide prevention, and more, by engaging in a meaningful dialogue with some of the most respected mental health experts in the country, and helped draw up a framework for change and action.”

The reach of this initiative by CNBC-TV18 was further amplified through an integrated marketing campaign across social, digital and trade media. Moreover, a dedicated microsite hosts an array of insightful articles, episode-based videos, and more such accurate and well-researched information around mental health. While the initiative led to CNBC-TV18 earning great traction among the medical fraternity and viewers alike, the channel will soon roll out season 2 of ‘Mind Matters: An Invitation To Wellbeing’ which will see a new group of subject matter experts and thought leaders bring in fresh insights to address a range of facets related to mental wellbeing.
