Mumbai: ElevenLabs, an AI research and product company developing voice and audio infrastructure for global communication, has announced the appointment of Nihal Chauhan to lead Public Sector Partnerships and Policy across the Asia Pacific region.
In his new role, Chauhan will drive engagement with governments, policymakers, academic institutions, and strategic partners across APAC, supporting ElevenLabs’ long-term public sector initiatives and policy agenda in key regional markets.
The appointment reflects ElevenLabs’ growing emphasis on expanding multilingual and accessible AI deployment across Asia Pacific, where voice technologies are increasingly being positioned as a key interface for digital inclusion and public service delivery.
Chauhan brings more than 17 years of experience spanning geopolitics, technology, and public policy. Prior to joining ElevenLabs, he led policy partnerships for Google in India, overseeing government engagement across digital economy policy, artificial intelligence, and broader technology initiatives.
Earlier in his career, he worked at Tata Sons, serving in the Chairman’s office and as Chief of Staff to Dr. S. Jaishankar during his tenure as Group President of Tata’s Global Corporate Affairs function before becoming India’s Minister of External Affairs.
Beyond corporate leadership, Chauhan currently serves as a Non-Resident Fellow at ORF America, is a member of the Trilateral Commission, and sits on the Board of the Global Access to Talent from India (GATI) Foundation.
Commenting on his appointment, Nihal Chauhan said, “Across Asia Pacific, millions of people are coming online and interacting with technology — and for many, voice will be how they first reach government services, education, and healthcare. I’m excited to partner with governments and institutions across the region to make the adoption of these technologies practical, responsible, and genuinely inclusive — particularly in markets where language and accessibility are central to digital participation.”
The appointment comes as ElevenLabs continues to deepen its footprint across Asia Pacific. Earlier this year, the company expanded its Impact Program into India, extending access to multilingual voice AI tools for nonprofits, educators, and frontline institutions.
In India, ElevenLabs has established collaborations with enterprises and platforms including Cars24, Meesho, TVS Motor, Mahindra, JioStar, Urban Company, Eternal, PocketFM, and 99acres, with a particular focus on conversational AI and customer engagement applications.
As Asia Pacific continues to witness growing investments in AI-enabled public services and digital infrastructure, ElevenLabs sees significant opportunities to advance voice technologies that improve accessibility, communication, and large-scale digital engagement across linguistically diverse and mobile-first markets.
