Entry-level Digital Marketing hiring up by 67% in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore: Kraftshala’s Trends Report 2024
Share Share ShareShare

New Delhi: Kraftshala, an edtech platform for marketing jobs, has unveiled its Digital Marketing Trends Report 2024, spotlighting a surge in entry-level hiring despite broader industry slowdowns. The report analyzed 765 roles from Kraftshala’s placement programs, highlighting key trends shaping the future of digital marketing talent in India.

Key Findings:

Entry-Level Demand: Agencies dominate hiring, accounting for 60% of roles, emphasizing their reliance on fresh talent for growth.

City Hotspots: Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bangalore together represent 67% of roles, while emerging cities like Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai also see growth.

Competitive Salaries: Bangalore leads with 28% of roles offering higher CTCs. Smaller hubs like Chennai and Noida are also providing premium compensation for niche skills.

Workplace Models: 93% of roles are in-office or hybrid, with just 7% offering fully remote options, highlighting employers’ focus on collaboration and on-site problem-solving.

The report signals a significant shift in hiring priorities, with recruiters valuing practical skills over traditional degrees. Examples of candidates with non-linear career paths, including those with career gaps or unconventional backgrounds, underscore the industry’s openness to diverse talent profiles.

Fluency in English remains a critical factor, with over 80% of roles requiring strong language skills, though exceptions exist for highly skilled candidates in technical or niche areas.

Speaking about the findings, Varun Satia, Founder and CEO of Kraftshala, remarked, “The digital marketing industry is at a fascinating crossroads, with immense opportunities for those willing to upskill and adapt to the changing landscape. Recruiters are not just looking for candidates with certificates but those who can bring real value through their problem-solving abilities and technical knowledge. This report underscores the importance of building practical, hands-on expertise to stand out in today’s competitive job market.”

Satia added, “What we’re seeing now is a clear departure from traditional hiring practices. Employers are willing to pay premium salaries even for entry-level roles, provided the candidates can demonstrate their ability to think critically and adapt to emerging technologies. This is a wake-up call for students to not just focus on collecting certificates but actually focus on skill building.”

The report also highlighted a shift in assessment methods, with aptitude and psychometric tests giving way to problem-solving tasks that better measure candidate potential. Recruiters are also offering premium pay for specialized skills, reflecting the industry’s focus on quality over quantity in hiring.

Technical roles in programmatic advertising and e-commerce are gaining traction, emphasizing the growing need for expertise in cutting-edge technologies.

Kraftshala’s report provides a comprehensive view of the evolving digital marketing landscape, encouraging candidates to prioritize skills, adaptability, and critical thinking to thrive in this dynamic field.
