Mumbai: Amritsar-based GTC NEWS has commenced test signals on GSAT-30, marking a significant step toward building a globally distributed Punjabi news network with satellite reach.
The test transmission phase indicates the channel’s readiness to move beyond digital-first confines and enter the satellite broadcasting ecosystem, enabling wider and more reliable access for Punjabi-speaking audiences across India and overseas markets. The network positions itself as an AI-first news operation, promising faster, cleaner and more relevant news delivery, with live reporting designed to respect viewer time and attention.
The satellite test is part of a broader rollout plan, with platform launches and distribution partnerships expected to be announced shortly. Industry observers see the move as a strategic attempt to combine traditional satellite reach with modern, technology-led news production and distribution.
Behind the new venture is media industry veteran Rabindra Narayan, widely regarded as a pioneer of Punjabi satellite television. Narayan recently launched GTC Network—short for Galactic Television & Communications—as a diversified media company operating across motion picture, television and video production, sound recording, and music publishing.
GTC Network was incorporated on August 24, 2025, in Amritsar, Punjab. The launch follows Narayan’s exit from PTC Network, where he served as President and Managing Director for nearly two decades. During his tenure, he was instrumental in transforming PTC from a regional broadcaster into a globally recognised platform for Punjabi language and culture.
Often referred to in the industry as the “Father of Punjabi Satellite Television,” Narayan’s next chapter is focused on scaling Punjabi voices to new frontiers through a global, technology-driven media conglomerate. The initiation of GSAT-30 test signals for GTC NEWS is being viewed as the first tangible step in that direction.
With satellite distribution, AI-led workflows and a stated ambition to redefine Punjabi news consumption, GTC NEWS is positioning itself at the intersection of legacy broadcast infrastructure and next-generation media technology.
