Mumbai: According to the data released by BARC India for week 50, the inaugural episode of the TED Talk India Nayi Soch aired on Star Plus on Sunday, 10th December 2017 between 7:00PM to 8:00 PM has delivered 1.69 million Impressions.
This is considered to be way below when compared with the inaugural episode numbers of Bigg Boss Season 11 aired on Colors on Sunday, 1st October 2017 at 9 to 11:30 PM, which has garnered 7.89 million impressions.
The numbers are pertaining to the TG of BARC 2+ C&S, U+R in Hindi Speaking Market (HSM) that is considered to be the core TG for any Hindi General Entertainment Channels in advertisers perspective.
Star India has simultaneously aired the inaugural episode of TED Talk Nayi Soch on Sunday, December 10th, 2017 between 7 to 8PM across six channels brands that transforms in to ten channels when the SD and HD feeds are taken in to account.
The consolidated Viewership across all the 10 channels including Star Plus (SD+HD), Star Pravah, Star Gold (SD+HD), Star Jalsha (SD+HD), Star World (SD+HD) and Movies OK was 4.99 million Impressions only . Again, this numbers are also pertaining to HSM market for 7 to 8 PM time band alone.
All India 2+ Market Numbers:
It may be noted that the Inaugural episode of TED Talk Nayi Soch was repeated on Star Plus SD and Star Plus HD on 10th December 2017 between 10:30 PM to 11:30 PM. The announcement from Star India has claimed that the Inaugural episode of TED Talk Nayi Soch aired on 10th December across six channels has reached 42.4 million viewers.
Analysis of the numbers has revealed fact that the claim of reaching 42.4 million people was an all India Market numbers in 2+ TG with cumulative of reach of all the Ten channels at 7 to 8 PM and also the repeat telecast of the show on Star Plus SD and HD feed at 10:30 to 11:30 PM on 10th December.
Some of the innovations showcased in the first two episodes of TED Talks India Nayi Soch included Anirudh Sharma’s ink made from pollution particulates, Shubhendu Sharma, who quit his engineering job at Toyota to grow forests, Dr. Gautam Bhan’s work on rehabilitation and up gradation of slums.
Comparison between 1st Epi of TED Talk Nayi Soch and Bigg Boss 11:
A simple comparison between the two of biggest non-fiction properties of the year that is being aired on the rivals channels, the inaugural episode of TED Talk India Nayi Soch on Star Plus and 1st episode of Bigg Boss Season 11 shows as enormous difference, with TED Talk India scoring 1.69 million impressions against 7.89 million impressions scored by the later.
If we consider the duration factor of TED Talk India being a 60 minutes shows and Bigg Boss 11 being a 150 minutes show, the later is 2.5 times higher in show duration time. Hence, if we multiply the TED Talk delivery of 1.69 million by 2.5 times to match the duration of Bigg Boss format, it becomes 4.23 million impressions. Even then TED Talk India will be having almost 50% lesser viewership when compared with the viewership numbers of inaugural episode of Bigg Boss 11.
It will interesting to see how the show TED Talk India will be progressing in the upcoming weeks as the recent study conducted by primary data and analytics firm Chrome DM revealed the fact that the Promos of TED Talk India was watched by only 25% of the respondents with a whooping 75% saying that they have not watched the promos of the show and it also enjoyed only 35% reach.
Another reason attributed to moderate or poor numbers can be attributed to the recent trends, where Talk show or chat show formats on Television has seen very little success with shows like Anupam Kher show on Colors and Satyameva Jeyathey on Star Plus seeing little interest from viewers.
Moreover, Shahrukh Khan as a TV host enjoys very limited success even though he a very successful Super Star on Big Screen. Will he break the jings this time and make TED Talk India a big success…?
