KBC tops recall comparison study of top Reality shows and its popularity among different age-groups: Chrome DM

New Delhi: The leading primary data analysis agency, Chrome DM, has conducted a study on three leading Reality formats that are being aired in various Hindi Entertainment Channels, exploring the recall value enjoyed by each Reality Show, its Judges and channels in which they are being aired, thus analyzing the significance of each reality show with its judges and TV Channels along with the popularity among different age-groups.

The study was conducted with a sample of over 5000 respondents and revealed that KBC as the most favourite reality show among all age groups, with the highest recall with the 10th season of the reality format being aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

 

Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by actor Amitabh Bachchan has gained the highest recall value by all age groups. 94% of the respondents recall that the show is being hosted by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and 86% of the respondents are able to recollect that it is being aired on Sony TV.

While Analysing the age wise affinity factor of respondents towards KBC show, it is observed that 52% of the respondents in the age group of 15-21 yrs watch KBC, while 63% of the respondents in the age group of 22-33 yrs watch KBC. 69% of the respondents who were able to recall KBC are from the age group of 31- 40 yrs. Respondents between the age group of 41-50 yrs and 51 years and above were able to recall the show 71% and 55% respectively.

The report reveals that the popular reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ with its 12th Season set for telecast on Colors Hindi had a recall value next to KBC with 91% of the respondents were able to recall that the show is being hosted by actor Salman Khan and 87% of the respondents recalling that the show being aired on Colors Hindi Entertainment Channel.

Taking a look at the age factor of the respondents that recalled Bigg Boss, it is observed that 57 % of the respondents of the age group 15-21 yrs, while the respondents of the age group 22-30 yrs contributed to 63%. Moreover, 44% and 39% of the respondents that recalled Bigg Boss belonged to the age group of 31-40yrs and 41-50yrs respectively. Respondents above the age group of 51years contributed 28% of the recall value of the Bigg Boss show.

‘Indian Idol’, one of the longest-running Singing Talent reality format, telecast on Sony Entertainment Television has been recalled by 82% of the respondents. Further look into the factor of relating the show with its judegs, 68% of the respondents recall that the show being judged by Anu Malik, and 54% were able to recall Farah Khan as the judge and Sonu Nigam was being recalled by 47% of the respondents.

Out of the respondents that could recall the show Indian Idol, 55% of them belonged to the age group of 15-21yrs while the respondents between the age group of 22-30yrs contributed to 59% of the response and 62% of the response was contributed by the respondents of the age group  31-40yrs. The respondents between the age group of 41 – 50yrs contributed to 66% of the response that recalled Indian Idol and 41% of the respondents were above the age of 51years.

The study was conducted by  Chrome DM using Structured questionnaires and real-time submission with a sample size of 5,231 respondents during 24th Aug to 5th Sep’18 across India.
