Modena: Maserati is commemorating a historic milestone in 2026, marking 100 years of its iconic Trident logo—an enduring symbol of performance, innovation, and Italian excellence. The centenary also coincides with the brand’s first racing victory at the Targa Florio in 1926, where Alfieri Maserati drove the Tipo 26 to a class win, cementing the marque’s racing pedigree.
Debuting at the same race, the Trident has since evolved into a globally recognised emblem, representing Maserati’s journey from racetrack dominance to luxury automotive leadership. The milestone is being celebrated globally through a series of events, campaigns, and cultural initiatives, reinforcing the brand’s identity across over 70 international markets.
To mark the occasion, Maserati has launched a new communication campaign that traces a century of history through its most iconic models. The campaign brings together heritage vehicles such as the Tipo 26, Ghibli, and MC12 with contemporary models like the GranTurismo Trofeo, Grecale Trofeo, and MCXtrema—highlighting the seamless continuity between the brand’s past and future. The film, powered by a mix of 3D animation and artificial intelligence, culminates with the line “A Century of Stories, Signed with One Symbol.”

Commenting on the milestone, Santo Ficili, COO, Maserati, said, “The Trident embodies the most authentic soul of Maserati. Born on the racetrack in 1926, it carries with it the legacy of a company that learned to build cars in pursuit of tenths of a second. An invaluable heritage – made up of racing victories, iconic models and technical milestones – that the women and men of Maserati preserve and renew every day, in Modena and around the world. In 2026, we also celebrate 112 years since the company’s foundation, reaffirming our status as the longest-standing brand in the Motor Valley and one of the ambassadors of Made in Italy on the international stage. Few automotive brands can boast so many anniversaries of such significance. That is why we look to the future with the same solidity and strength with which we forged our past.”
The Trident’s origins trace back to 1925, when Mario Maserati designed the emblem, drawing inspiration from the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna. Over the decades, the logo has undergone several refinements—from its early rectangular form to the iconic oval design and, more recently, a modernised version introduced with the MC20 as part of Maserati’s “New Era.”
The Trident’s racing legacy remains central to the brand’s identity, with historic achievements including victories at the Indianapolis 500, multiple Targa Florio wins, and the 1957 Formula 1 World Championship with Juan Manuel Fangio. In modern motorsport, Maserati has continued its winning streak with the MC12 and its return to competitive racing through the GT2 platform.
Further underscoring the cultural significance of the Trident, Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has issued a commemorative postage stamp celebrating the centenary. The stamp, designed in collaboration with Centro Stile Maserati, symbolises the brand’s enduring contribution to Italian industrial and cultural heritage.
As part of the year-long celebrations, Maserati will host global events spanning motorsport, product showcases, and cultural platforms—turning the Trident’s 100-year journey into a shared celebration of legacy, innovation, and performance.
