Mumbai : Welcome to the picturesque town called Suburbicon that certainly proves this right. Merely a shiny exterior, this affluent neighborhood holds some of the most disturbing realities of its inhabitants. Giving the viewers a glimpse of this paradox, &Privé HD, is all set to premiere the American noir film ‘Suburbicon’ on Saturday, 25th August at 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Directed by the multifaceted legend who has ruled Hollywood, George Clooney, the film promises a stellar star cast with award-winning actors like Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Noah Jupe, and Oscar Isaac in pivotal roles.
The movie features a quaint little suburban community called Suburbicon with perfectly manicured lawns and an array of affordable houses for all-white families – a picture as pretty as a painting. However, this idyllic neighborhood seems too good to be true. Truth is,this paradise land – a mere façade–has a dark underbelly of crime, racism, torture and betrayal.
Set in the summer of 1959, the movierevolves around the lives of the Mayers – an African-American family, and the Lodges – their seemingly “normal” white neighbors.The film opens with the Mayers moving in to this all-white community thereby creating a stir and a ruckus amongst one and all. As the film progresses, the Mayers are seen to bear the brunt as they are targeted merely for the color of their skin.However, what really goes neglected is the tension that brews in the white house next door.
One odd night, two robbers break into the neighboring Lodge house and tie-up the whole family including the patriarch Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) and kill his wife Rose (Julianne Moore) with an overdose of chloroform. Days later, her twin sister Margaret quickly replaces Rose under the pretext of caring for Gardner and Rose’s child Nicky. As she and Gardner get too comfortable, this leads to suspicion from the charismatic insurance agent Bud Cooper (Oscar Issac).
Is there something fishy going on with the Lodge family? Who is to blame fordisrupting the peace and calm of Suburbicon?
