Radio advertising clocks 62 pc growth in ad volumes during Jan-Jun’22: TAM Report

Jun ’21 registered a rise of 95% in Radio Ad Volumes over May ’21: TAM Adex

According to TAM AdEx-Report on Radio advertising for Jan-Jun’22, ad volumes grew by 62 pc compared to same period of previous year 2021. The ad volumes rose almost two fold compared to Jan-Jun’20.

Among the Leading Sectors on Radio for Jan-Jun’22, Services topped the list with 32 pc share of ad volumes followed by Retail with 11 pc share. Top three sectors together accounted for more than 50 pc share of ad volumes. Personal Care/Personal Hygiene entered the top 10 list during Jan-Jun’22. 

In the Leading categories, Properties/Real Estates, Hospital/Clinics, Cars and Housing/Construction Loans maintained their ranks. Two categories each out of Top 10 categories belonged to Services, Auto and Retail sector. Ecom-Auto Products & Services and Tooth Pastes were the new entrants in the Top 10 categories list. Retail Outlets-Jewellers, Retail Outlets-Electronics/Durables, Retail Outlets-Clothing/Textiles/Fashion, Ecom-Auto Products & Services and Tooth Pastes categories saw positive rank shift.

 

In the Leading Advertisers, Vicco Laboratories topped the list by moving more than 100 spots up. Maruti, LIC, Amul and Mother Dairy were the advertisers that remained in the list of Top 10 of H1 of both Y 2022 and Y 2021. Six out of 10 were new entrants in the list. Top 10 Advertisers contributed to 17 pc share of ad volumes on Radio.

Among the top brands, Vicco Vajradanti Paste topped the list followed by Vicco Turmeric Face Wash. There were total 6.9K+ brands present on Radio during Jan-Jun’22. Three out of Top 10 brands were from Services sector and two each were from Retail, BFSI and Personal Care/Personal Hygiene sector. Top 10 Brands contributed to 11 pc share of Radio ad volumes. 

200+ categories registered positive growth in the Top Growing Categories. Properties/Real Estates saw highest increase in ad secondages with growth of two times followed by Hospital/Clinics with two times growth during Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-June’21. In terms of growth pc, Face Wash category witnessed highest growth pc among the Top 10 by 1302 times in Jan-Jun’22.

 

Among the Leading Exclusive Advertisers and Brands on Radio during Jan-Jun’22, 3.9K+ advertisers & 5.1K+ brands advertised compared to Jan-Jun’21. 

 

The advertising in leading States and Cities on Radio showed, Gujarat State at top with 19 pc share of ad volumes followed by Maharashtra with 17 pc share. Top five states accounted for 63 pc of total ad volumes and South Radio Stations accounted for 26 pc share. New Delhi topped among the 18 cities followed by Jaipur at 2nd position. Top 10 cities accounted for 69 pc of Total ad volumes on Radio.

Among the Top 10 Cities Bouncing Back in Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21, Jaipur saw highest rise in ad volumes growth of 88 pc followed by New Delhi.

Evening was the most preferred time-band for advertising on Radio followed by Morning and Afternoon time-bands. Evening & Morning time bands together added more than 65 pc share of ad volumes.

Similar shares of radio ad lengths observed in both the first halves of year 2021 and 2022. Ad commercials with 20-40 secs was most preferred for advertising on Radio during both period.
