RAKTDA names Vishal Bhatia as India Market Director

New Delhi: Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has announced the appointment of Vishal Bhatia as its India Market Director, reinforcing the Authority’s commitment to accelerating growth in one of its top five key source markets.

Based in Mumbai, Bhatia will lead RAKTDA’s strategy and operations across India, with a focus on strengthening trade partnerships, enhancing consumer engagement, and positioning Ras Al Khaimah as a preferred year-round destination for Indian travellers. His appointment marks a strategic move to deepen the emirate’s presence in the Indian travel market, which continues to show significant outbound potential.

Bhatia brings over 20 years of expertise in travel and tourism, having successfully driven market development and sustainable visitor growth. Most recently, he served as Country Manager at VisitBritain, where he played a pivotal role in shaping and executing the UK’s tourism strategy for India. His tenure included managing integrated marketing campaigns, establishing key collaborations, and delivering impactful results in trade and consumer outreach.

Commenting on the appointment, Iyad Rasbey, Vice President, Destination Tourism Development, RAKTDA, said, “Vishal’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as we continue to see strong growth from India. With his deep understanding of the market and relevant expertise, he will support our efforts to enhance Ras Al Khaimah’s appeal among Indian travellers as a year-round destination. He will also play a key role in tapping into the destination wedding segment, which continues to show promising potential for the Emirate.”

Expressing his enthusiasm, Vishal Bhatia added, “Joining RAKTDA presents a meaningful opportunity to build on the growing interest Ras Al Khaimah is receiving from India. My focus will be on strengthening trade and consumer engagement, increasing awareness across key cities, and unlocking opportunities across diverse segments. I look forward to contributing to the next phase of growth from this important market.”

Ras Al Khaimah, widely regarded as the “Destination of the Future,” has grown in popularity among Indian travellers for its scenic landscapes, adventure offerings, authentic cultural experiences, and family-friendly attractions. The emirate’s rising appeal is further supported by visa-on-arrival access for Indian passport holders, enhanced air connectivity, and a growing portfolio of luxury resorts—making it an increasingly accessible and attractive choice for Indian outbound travel.
