Hyderabad: Leading News Media Network, TV5 has obtained TDSAT order against leading Cable operators in Andhra Pradesh, prompting them to reinstate TV5 Telugu News channel with immediate effect.
TDSAT passed the order against respondent ACN Cable Network and ACT Digital Home Entertainment that are leading MSOs operating in Andhra Pradesh region.
The petitioner TV5 Network alleged that the cable operators across Andhra Pradesh have stopped airing their news channels for the past couple of days without any prior notice in violation of TRAI’s regulatory framework.
“We direct the respondent to restore the news channel of the respondent on its network forthwith in any case within 24 hours” the order stated citing the reason that no disconnection notice was issued to petitioner.
TRAI rule book says that the Cable operators cannot disconnect the signals of TV channels without giving 21 days’ notice and specifying the reason for the disconnection.
