Mumbai: Vadilal Industries Ltd. and Parle Products have entered into a strategic trademark licensing partnership to launch Melody Ice Cream, extending one of India’s most iconic confectionery brands into the ice cream category.
The collaboration combines Parle’s strong brand equity with Vadilal’s expertise in the frozen dessert segment to create a new offering inspired by the much-loved Melody confectionery brand. The launch marks a significant move in the growing trend of brand extensions and trademark licensing partnerships aimed at unlocking new consumption occasions and enhancing consumer engagement.
The partnership reflects how established brands are increasingly leveraging cross-category collaborations to drive innovation and relevance in evolving consumer markets. By bringing together two household names, Vadilal and Parle aim to create a product that blends familiarity with novelty while appealing to both long-time Melody consumers and younger audiences.
The launch also taps into the rising popularity of nostalgia-driven innovation, where iconic brands are being reimagined in contemporary formats to create culturally relevant experiences. Melody Ice Cream seeks to capitalize on this trend by transforming a familiar confectionery favourite into a new frozen dessert experience.

Commenting on the association, Himanshu Kanwar, Chief Executive Officer, Vadilal Industries Limited, said, “The strongest brands are those that create lasting emotional connections, and Melody is undoubtedly one of them. Our partnership with Parle represents the coming together of two trusted and legacy household names with a shared commitment to delighting consumers. Through this association, we are not only introducing a distinctive new offering but also creating a powerful cultural moment that celebrates familiarity, joy, and innovation. We see immense potential in collaborations that blend brand equity with evolving consumer preferences, and Melody Ice Cream is a compelling expression of that vision.”

Sharing his views on the partnership, Mayank Shah, Chief Marketing Officer, Parle Products Pvt. Ltd, said, “Melody has enjoyed a special place in the hearts of consumers for decades. This association with Vadilal allows us to extend the brand into a category that offers new occasions for consumption while retaining the essence that has made Melody so memorable. We are excited to see consumers experience the brand in a completely new avatar and look forward to the response this collaboration generates.”
Industry observers note that brand collaborations are increasingly emerging as an effective strategy to enhance consumer engagement, strengthen cultural relevance, and drive category innovation. The Vadilal-Parle partnership aims to create a distinctive proposition by combining the heritage and trust associated with both brands while introducing consumers to a new product experience.
To support the launch, the companies have rolled out an integrated marketing campaign spanning digital and social media platforms, creator collaborations, consumer engagement initiatives, and on-ground activations. The campaign seeks to celebrate the enduring popularity of Melody while introducing the new product to younger consumers through contemporary storytelling and interactive experiences aligned with current social media trends.
Inspired by the flavour profile of the original confectionery, Melody Ice Cream combines smooth caramel notes with rich chocolate flavours in a creamy frozen format. The product has been developed as a natural extension of the Melody brand, offering consumers a new way to enjoy a familiar favourite.
Melody Ice Cream is currently available across Vadilal parlours and will be progressively rolled out through retail outlets, modern trade channels, and leading quick-commerce platforms across the country.
