New Delhi: Win News has been awarded ISC-FICCI Sanitation Award for 2019 for its coverage of sanitation issues in and around Chennai city.
The India Sanitation Coalition (ISC), in collaboration with FICCI, constituted the awards, aimed at identifying and recognizing the efforts of various stakeholders, across the whole sanitation value chain of Build-Use-Maintain-Treat.
Win News, a part of Win TV based in Chennai was handed down the ‘Best Communication in Sanitation – Special Recognition Award’ at the third edition of the ISC-FICCI awards ceremony in New Delhi on 25thApril. FICCI President Sandip Somany presented the award to P Bhuvaneswari, senior member of the channel’s editorial team.
The award was in recognition of the channel’s extensive reporting on the lack of public toilets, poor maintenance of toilets, solid waste management by municipalities and sanitation issues in Chennai city.
The ISC-FICCI Sanitation Awards were first hosted in April, 2017 and is first of its kind in the field of sanitation in India. With an overwhelming response in its first year, ISC-FICCI decided to host the awards as an annual event. Through these Awards, the India Sanitation Coalition seeks to advance its mandate to share knowledge and expertise, showcase forward-thinking best practices and promote partnerships across the sector in order to achieve a sustainable sanitation ecosystem.
