Mumbai: Wooden Street, an online furniture and home décor brand, has announced the appointment of Amit Phutane as Chief Business Officer (CBO). The strategic leadership hire comes at a time when the company is accelerating its growth journey post-funding, with a clear focus on business expansion, revenue acceleration, and customer-centric transformation.
With a stellar track record of over 25 years across direct-to-consumer (D2C), retail, and corporate roles at leading brands, Amit brings a wealth of experience in building high-performance teams, driving profitability, and scaling businesses through omni-channel strategies.
Wooden Street, in its press release, stated that Amit will spearhead the organization’s business growth strategy with a strong emphasis on retail expansion, e-commerce scale-up, and market partnerships. He joins the company following senior leadership stints at Neeman’s as Chief Business Officer, and at Duroflex, where he was Business Head for D2C and Growth. He has also held leadership roles at Bombay Dyeing, Ola, Kansai Nerolac, Disney, and Essar, building a legacy in go-to-market strategy, digital transformation, and revenue leadership.
“We are excited to onboard Amit Phutane as our CBO (Chief Business Officer). At Wooden Street, our mission is to be a one-stop shop for all home furniture & decor needs. Amit’s track record—from driving D2C expansion to building retail presence across business channels—perfectly aligns with our growth ambitions,” said Lokendra Ranawat, Founder & CEO of Wooden Street. “He’s not only results-driven, but also deeply customer‑centric—able to scale quickly while keeping human insights front and centre,” he added further.
Commenting on his new role, Amit Phutane said, “Wooden Street has built a scalable vertically‑integrated model in furniture, backed by tech and retail innovation. I’m excited to shape the next growth chapter by building scalable engines at the intersection of customer experience, retail business channels, revenue, and operational excellence—aligned to a brand that values depth and differentiation.”
This leadership move underscores Wooden Street’s continued commitment to innovation, customer-first experiences, and long-term business sustainability as it strengthens its omnichannel footprint across India and beyond.
