Chennai : According to BARC Data for week 34 for the period between 18th August 2018 to 24th August 2018 Tamil GEC channel Zee Tamil has emerged as a runner up in the Tamil GEC market, following the market leader Sun TV.
In the recent weeks there has been a neck to neck competition between the Zee group’s Tamil GEC Zee Tamil and the Star Network owned Tamil GEC Star Vijay TV. During the World Television Premiere of the Tamil blockbuster movie Mersal, Zee Tamil showed up in the second place pushing Vijay TV to the 3rd place. After a brief hiatus Zee Tamil again occupied the runner up position during week 33 with 499927 (000s impressions) while Vijay TV with 483866 (000s impressions) was placed at the 3rd place in the top 5 Tamil GEC chart.
Zee Tamil has retained its position as a runner up in week 34 as well, with 464368 (000s impressions). The channel’s consistent raise is due to the stable growth in fiction GRP with its Prime time shows like Poove Poochudava, Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Sembarathi delivering promising numbers in Prime Time.
The strong line up of its fiction series has contributed significantly to the channel’s growth, and creating history Zee Tamil had recently extended its fiction band to all 7 days of the week.
It is worth noting that despite the telecast of the second season of the one of its kind reality show Bigg Boss Tamil, which is still on air, Zee Tamil managed to overtake Star Vijay. The scenario was not the same during the telecast of the first season of Bigg Boss Tamil last year.
Star Vijay stands the 3rd position with 448687 (000s impressions)while the market leaders’ movie and comedy channels KTV and Aditya TV with 302681 (000s impressions) and 84218 (000s impressions) occupy the 4th and 5th places on the top 5 Tamil GEC chart in week 44.
