Mumbai: Zee5 has unveiled its most ambitious multilingual content slate to date, signalling a strategic push to strengthen its position as India’s leading homegrown streaming platform through a language-first, technology-led and creator-driven approach.
The expansive slate spans Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada and Bangla, bringing together a diverse portfolio of premium originals, direct-to-digital films, marquee theatrical premieres, live sports, AI-powered storytelling, animation and kids’ entertainment. More than a content announcement, the platform described the slate as a reflection of its long-term vision to build a differentiated entertainment ecosystem rooted in culturally authentic storytelling with pan-India appeal.
With partnerships spanning some of India’s leading studios, filmmakers and production houses, Zee5 is positioning itself as a destination that caters to evolving audience preferences across languages, genres and formats while deepening investments in regional storytelling.
Among its Hindi collaborations are Jio Studios, Maddock Films, AAZ Films, 200 NOTOUT CINEMAS, DICE Media, Collective Studios Historyverse, Tips Films, Pen Studios, Ellipsis Entertainment, Reliance Entertainment and Jar Pictures. Across regional markets, the platform has partnered with leading content creators including Annapurna Studios, Sri Venkateswara Creations, Sitara Entertainments and Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra in Telugu; Passion Studios and Vriddhi Cinemas in Tamil; Thespian Films in Malayalam; KVN Productions in Kannada; Bahawa Entertainment, Pratisaad Productions and Kyra Kumar Kreations in Marathi; and Acropolis Entertainment, Anjan Dutt Productions, Why So Serious Films, Surinder Films and Zee Studios in Bangla.
The Hindi slate features a mix of original series, returning franchises and films, including Kambli, inspired by the life of former cricketer Vinod Kambli, The Scam: Leaked, Coffee King, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2.0 hosted by R. Madhavan, and the revival of the iconic Zee Horror Show. Returning franchises include Rangbaaz Season 4, Janaawar 2 and Bakaiti Season 2. The film pipeline comprises theatrical premieres and direct-to-digital releases including Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Bandar, Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, Pooja Meri Jaan, Sarvgunn Sampann, Ghamasaan, Ikroop and Dalimb.
Regional language programming continues to remain central to Zee5’s strategy. The platform announced fresh originals, franchise extensions and theatrical acquisitions across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Bangla, reinforcing its commitment to delivering premium local-language content for audiences across India.
Beyond scripted entertainment, Zee5 is expanding its content ecosystem through live sports and emerging technologies. Its sports portfolio includes global properties such as FIFA, Bundesliga, ILT Season 5 and Tamil Nadu Kabaddi, while its AI and animation initiatives include original mythological and fantasy titles alongside an expanded children’s catalogue. The move reflects the platform’s strategy of increasing engagement across multiple audience segments while broadening content consumption beyond traditional scripted programming.
Commenting on the announcement, Tejkarran Singh Bajaj, Business Head, Zee5 India, said the company is focused on shaping the entertainment landscape rather than following it.
“This slate is our biggest statement of intent yet, bringing together some of India’s most celebrated filmmakers, production houses and performers across Movies, Series, Live Sports, AI-powered storytelling, Animation and Kids in seven languages. Alongside a bolder content vision, we are building a future-ready entertainment platform with smarter technology, a richer product experience and deeper personalisation to serve the evolving needs of Indian audiences,” Bajaj said.
He added that the slate represents Zee5’s commitment to creating India’s most-loved homegrown entertainment destination where compelling stories, leading creators and bold ideas converge on a single platform.
Raghavendra Hunsur, Chief Content Officer, Zee, said the platform’s programming philosophy is centred on relevance rather than scale.
“India’s viewers today move effortlessly across languages, genres and formats, and our content strategy is built to reflect that shift. Our focus is to champion stories that are bold in their choices, unconventional in their range, unapologetic in their voice and capable of connecting with audiences across India and beyond,” he said.
The announcement comes at a time when streaming platforms are increasingly shifting from language-specific programming to multilingual content ecosystems supported by technology, personalisation and cross-market distribution. With its latest slate, Zee5 is betting that a combination of premium regional storytelling, marquee partnerships, live sports and next-generation content formats will strengthen subscriber engagement while reinforcing its competitive position in India’s rapidly evolving OTT market.
