5 hacks to stay cool during a heatwave in India
Share Share ShareShare

As the heatwave sets in, everyone struggles to keep their bodies cool. While air conditioners are preferred and effective, they are costlier to operate. On the other hand, air coolers provide a budget-friendly alternative to cooling homes and offices.

An air cooler is more environmentally friendly than an air conditioner, especially if you want to consider using it during the summer. The air conditioners’ gas emissions contribute to air pollution in India. If you want a sustainable option, opt for air coolers. Here are some hacks you can follow:

  1. Optimise its placement

Air coolers consume less electricity, reducing energy bills and environmental impact. To optimise the cooler’s placement, position it near an open window or door to draw in fresh air from the outside, cool it, and circulate it in the room.

  1. Keep it clean

Air coolers use natural evaporation methods to keep you cool, while air conditioners use harmful refrigerants to keep the temperature low. Air coolers contribute to a cleaner and ozone-friendly environment. Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. Clean the filters, water tank, and cooling pads frequently to prevent dust and debris buildup.

A well-maintained air cooler provides fresher, cooler air, keeping you comfortable, even on the hottest days.

  1. Roll the blinds down

Air coolers boost indoor air quality by constantly circulating and filtering fresh outdoor air. These are beneficial for allergy sufferers. To maintain it and prevent overheating, cover the windows and doors with blinds to stop direct sunlight and infrared rays from entering the space.

  1. Create cross-ventilation

You can buy a portable air cooler from a reliable brand and use it optimally. Open the windows or doors on opposite sides of your home to create a natural airflow. This cooler also aids in creating a refreshing breeze throughout your living space while enhancing the air quality.

  1. Ensure optimal humidity control

Living in humid areas, you can use a dehumidifier to improve and boost the air cooler’s performance. It removes the excess moisture and allows the cooler to cool the room more effectively. Monitoring and controlling humidity levels can help you ensure maximum cooling from your air cooler.

Some important points to note

Before purchasing the cooler, it is necessary to consult professionals or check out the product specifications on the manufacturer’s website or sticker. Choosing the right air cooler lets you stay cool, beat the heat, and save much money on energy and power bills. Buying it from an established manufacturer is a wise decision. You can depend on the cooler for longer without frequent repairs and replacements.

Conclusion

When the summer heatwave becomes unbearable, air coolers can provide an affordable solution to keep you cool and comfortable. By implementing these hacks, you can optimise their performance and create a refreshing environment for your relatives and employees.
