Hyderabad : YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy’s family owned Sakshi media group moved the High Court on Tuesday, challenging the action of the Andhra Pradesh government in blocking the telecast of Sakshi TV across the state.
K.Ramachandra Murthy, director of Sakshi TV, filed the petition contending that the action of the AP government was illegal and in violation of the fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution.
The petitioner urged the court to direct the authorities concerned to take immediate steps for restoration of broadcasting of the Sakshi TV in AP.
It may be mentioned here that Sakshi TV broadcasting was blocked in AP state following the agitation of Mudragada Padmanabham, former minister and Kapu leader, demanding reservation for Kapu community.
All Cable operators across Andhra Pradesh have been asked to block Sakshi News channel since yesterday. When enquired about the blocking of the Telugu new channel, deputy chief minister and home minister Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa confirmed the news and reiterated that government could take any steps for the sake of law and order.
Chief minister Naidu’s TDP government has been alleging that that Kapu leader Mudragada was backed by YSRC leader Jaganmohan Reddy and had been implementing ‘Jagan’s agenda’.
