Raj Nayak, the Crusader of Women Empowerment in M&E Industry

Mumbai: You can’t turn back and look at the past history of Indian Media Industry without the name, Raj Nayak, the Fire Brand in Indian Media and Entertainment Industry. The Birthday Boy, who enters in to another cheerful year of his life today, is on his Silver Jubilee year in Indian Media and Entertainment Industry. While he can be credited with so many professional achievements, it is his active participation towards liberating and celebrating the women power in a man’s world makes him unique among others.

As his twitter handle says (@raj_cheerful) he is always a cheerful person with a young and dynamic approach towards his business. With this penchant he was not only cheerful but also the most successful man in the M&E Industry with an excellent track record of raising the bar at every venture that he was associated with in his journey so far.

While he is a Fire Brand in professional front, he is very emotional person in his personal life. His care and attachment towards his mother is an example that many can learn from him and this affection towards his mother drive him deep towards the social cause of Empowering Women.

Raj Nayak is always on the forefront for the cause of Women Empowerment (WE). He displayed it in Colors with implementation of many female professional friendly Human Resources policies and programs.

On Social front he is a crusader of Women Empowerment and he actively associating with initiatives like Colors WE! Women Empower’, a unique crowd-funding campaign for the `WE! Udaan Scholarship’.

He came down all the way to Bangalore recently to launch ‘WE! Women Empower.’ An initiative By, Of and For the Girls and Women of India, to attempt a first-of-its-kind, never before done, circumnavigation around the Planet in a microlight, by a mother-daughter duo.

Colors joins hands with digital storytelling platform SheThePeople.TV

While Commenting recently on the association with SheThePeople.TV, Raj Nayak, said, “At Colors, 65% of our employee base comprises of women, and they form the backbone of the organization furthering our business goals. Through our shows like Udann, Shakti and Devanshi amongst many others, we have always tried to put the quintessential Indian woman and her many strengths in the spotlight to transform them into effective influencers. We believe that in today’s day and age it is critical to be a driver of change, and a digital platform like SheThePeople.TV is the perfect platform for us to take this initiative further. We look forward to a nation of absolute equality and hope to contribute positively towards achieving this.”

He also launched #SundayIsHerHoliday campaign asking men to take over the Sunday chores of women and when he was asked why Colors is doing this? He said, “We believe that entertainment should, where it can, nudge society forward, in big ways or small. This campaign is an embodiment of that belief. Gender equality is a man’s issue too, and as Colors, we have always believed in doing our bit in bringing about change in mindsets.” 

With five successful seasons of Colors Pinkathon initiative he wanted to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle for women and also on issues like breast cancer.

While commenting on Colors Pinkathon initiative Raj Nayak said, “We hope Colors Pinkathon will add vibrant colours to the lives of all women participating in this run. Women have always been an integral part of our lives – be it at home or even at the workplace. Be it a businesswoman, sportswoman, homemaker or au naturel, it’s their values and instincts that drive the entire world. Women leaders form my backbone, here at Colors, and play a major role in every decision which furthers our business objectives and goals. In fact, women empowerment is also a core philosophy that we maintain even in our bouquet of offerings to our viewers. We are firm believers of women empowerment and this association, with Pinkathon, is our way to say thank you to the women who strive to make our lives easier every single day.”
