Mathrubhumi unveils flood relief initiative 'KeralakkoruKaithangu'

Share Share ShareShare

Kochi: Torrential monsoon rains in Kerala have killed several people and left thousands homeless. Landslides have wiped off villages.  The state is reeling under unprecedented showers. The government is offering all possible assistance to those affected by floods, along with joint relief operations which are run by the armed forces. However the government will not be able to completely address the situation single handedly as the destruction unleashed by the floods is huge.

It is the responsibility of every individual to help the flood affected people. Kerala’s formidable media group Mathrubhumi has launched KeralakkoruKaithangu. (A flood relief initiative by Mathrubhumi). This multi-phase relief mission sought readers’ support to help Kerala tide over the cataclysm. Our appeal to the people is to come forward to the aid of our fellow beings in their darkest hour.

Mathrubhumi had come forward to help ease the suffering of the people in Kuttanad as done earlier during the Chennai floods, Okhi disaster and Gujarat earthquake. In the relief efforts undertaken earlier, the public were able to extend big help to the affected people through mathrubhumi.

Money is the most essential thing that is needed for the relief work, medicines, canned food items, rice, sugar, biscuits, pulses, matchboxes, candles, bed sheets, towels, sanitary pads, soaps, dettol, bleaching powder are also needed. Individual organisations and students can contribute their bit to the relief efforts. Public can donate money at the nearest MB office or deposit in the Account number given below:

Current Account No: 37831488523 (SBI, Kannur Road, Kozhikode)

IFSC Code: SBIN0070188

Mathrubhumi will hand over the donations to the Chief Minister’s relief fund, Call 7561099000 for more details.

The campaign is supported and promoted by all Mathrubhumi divisions which include print (MB Newspaper, television News Channel (mathrubhuminews.in), radio, (Club FM 94.3) and online (mathrubhumi.com)
