Mumbai: BBC News has appointed Yogita Limaye as its India correspondent. She will be based in Mumbai, providing coverage and analysis of national politics and social developments from the financial capital for platforms including BBC World News, BBC World Service and BBC News online.
Limaye, who previously served as correspondent and presenter for India Business Report, joined BBC News in 2012 from CNN IBN, a leading national news broadcaster, where she spent six years working in many roles.
During her career she has covered key business and economic stories from India such as the rise of India’s economy, and the currency note ban. She has interviewed several high-profile personalities, including India’s finance minister and the governor of the country’s central bank, and leading international business figures such as Howard Schultz and Martin Sorrell. She has also covered major news stories from the South Asian region such as the Nepal earthquake, the 2014 Indian election and the 2015 Sri Lankan election, and interviewed Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. Her international assignments include South Korea, Lebanon, Turkey and New York.

Limaye was born in the city of Pune in west India. She has a degree in engineering and wrote software programs for a year before switching careers to journalism.
