MUMBAI: Jan-June 2024 observed 5% growth in the News Genre ad volumes over Jan-June 2023. Tam has published its half yearly report on TV advertising in the news genre. 

‘F&B’ was the leading sector with 15% share of News Genre Ad Volumes

  • Building, Industrial & Land Materials/Equipments, BFSI, Household Products, Education and Personal Accessories retained their third, seventh, eigth, ninth and tenth positions in Jan-June 2024 compared to Jan-June 2023.
  • ‘F&B’ displaced ‘Services’ to topped the list of sector on News channel genre during Jan-June 2024.
  • The top 10 sectors together added 81% share of ad volumes during Jan-June 2024. Personal Healthcare observed a positive rank shift.

‘Cement’ led the News Genre categories during H1, 2024

  • The Top 10 categories together added 27% share of ad volumes in Jan-June 2024.
  • Categories – Cement, Toilet Soaps and Building Materials/Systems in the Top 10 list witnessed positive rank shift during Jan-June 2024.
  • Retail Outlets-Jewellers slid down to 4th position in Jan-June 2024 compared to the top position in Jan-June 2023.

The Leading Advertisers: Four out of the 10 Advertisers observed a Positive Rank shift

  • Reckitt Benckiser (India) and Hindustan Unilever retained their first and second positions during Jan-June 2024 compared to Jan-June 2023.
  • The Top 10 advertisers together added 21% share of Ad Volumes during Jan-June 2024.
  • Other than the Top two, the next top three Advertisers also maintained their ranking in Jan-Jun’24 compared to Jan-Jun2023.
  • Advertisers on the seventh, ninth and tenth position were new entrants in the Top 10 List.

‘Ultratech Cement’ was the leading brand on the News Genre during Jan-June 2024 

  • During Jan-June 2024, a total of 6.1K+ brands were present on Television.
  • Three out of the Top 10 brands were from ‘Reckitt Benckiser (India)’.

The Top Growing Categories : 170+ Categories registered Positive Growth

  • ‘Cement’ category saw highest increase in Ad secondages with growth of 41%.
  • In terms of growth % among the Top 10 categories, Beauty Accessories/Products witnessed highest growth of 511 Times during Jan-June 2024.

The Top five Channel Subgenres in News: Jan-June 2024

  • During Jan-June 2024, ‘Hindi News’ was the leading Subgenre for advertising with 19% share of ad volumes.
  • The Top five Channel Subgenres accounted for 56% share of ad volumes during Jan-June 2024.
