Playback sensation Benny Dayal, with over 3,500 songs in 19+ languages under his belt, is ready to bring the house down on Zee Café’s Just Talk Sneakers with host Mihir Joshi. Airing on November 17 at 8:30 PM, Benny takes us through his sneakerhead journey, starting with a major throwback to his love for martial arts. Benny confesses that it was Bruce Lee’s iconic yellow jumpsuit paired with the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers that sparked his obsession, “Watching Bruce do kung fu in those kicks… I just thought, ‘Man, that looks cool!’”
The voice behind Badtameez Dil and Jai Jai Shivshankar also spills on how he kicked off the trend of wearing colorful sneakers on stage back in Chennai. “I brought the sneaker game to the stage. While everyone else was looking dapper in shirts and jackets, I went for bold, bright sneakers. They let us move and groove with so much energy on stage, and in Chennai, that was totally new.”
Benny even teases new music on the horizon! Before his recent break, he worked on an EP called THEM, with tracks like Mehki and Ith Athyamai. “THEM is really special, and for the first time, I’m sharing that it’s in Tamil, Hindi, English, and Malayalam—a song for each language.”
