Mumbai: Equirus Capital, a leading Indian financial services group, has strengthened its board by appointing Mitu Samarnath Jha and Alok Misra as Independent Directors on the board. The move bolsters Equirus’ governance and strategic prowess, reinforcing the group’s focus on transparency and strong governance practices.
Jha is the CEO of Eminence Strategy Consulting (Eminence). She brings over two decades of experience in strategic communication, thought leadership positioning and reputation advisory. Over the course of her career, she has worked with prominent organisations including CRISIL, Standard & Poor’s, Aditya Birla Capital, ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company, and The Great Eastern Shipping Company. She later ventured into entrepreneurship and founded Eminence.
In addition to her professional role, Jha serves as an independent director on the boards of Times Internet, Shree Digvijay Cement Company Limited, and Peninsula Land Limited.
Misra recently co-founded Guvrn, India’s first curated board network that connects independent directors with progressive companies looking to strengthen their governance practices. Until June 2024, he served as Operating Partner and Chief Operating Officer for India at General Atlantic, a global growth equity investor, where he provided financial expertise to the firm and its portfolio companies with a focus on investments across India and ASEAN.
Prior to joining General Atlantic, Misra had extensive experience as a public company CFO, most recently serving as Group CFO at WNS Global Services, a leading global business process management company, where he helped steer the company through significant expansion and transformation. Earlier, he was Group CFO of Mphasis BFL Group and held several accounting and finance roles at organisations such as ITC Limited and PwC.
He also serves as a Non-executive/Independent Director on the boards of various private and public companies. Misra is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds an Honours degree in Commerce from University of Calcutta.
