Mumbai: Vi Movies & TV, the content aggregator platform from telecom operator Vodafone Idea, has announced its entry into the fast-growing microdrama category, partnering with Bullet Microdrama App to offer bite-sized, serialized content to users at no additional cost.
With this move, microdramas will be available on Vi Movies & TV for the first time, accessible directly through the platform’s app. The launch aligns with the growing demand for mobile-first, short-form storytelling formats among India’s smartphone-driven audiences.
Microdramas are witnessing rapid adoption in India, which accounted for 11% of global downloads of microdrama platforms in Q1 2025, reaching 35 million downloads. The category is projected to grow significantly, with the market expected to reach $1.5 billion by 2026 and expand further to $4.5 billion by 2030. This growth is being driven by increased consumption in Tier II and Tier III markets, younger audiences, and evolving viewing habits. Daily watch time for such content ranges between 40 to 90 minutes, with completion rates exceeding 90%, indicating high engagement levels.
The launch also strengthens Vi’s focus on expanding its free content ecosystem. Vi Movies & TV already aggregates content from over 20 OTT platforms, including JioHotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, and Amazon MX Player, alongside offering access to more than 400 live TV channels—enabling users to access a wide range of content without managing multiple subscriptions.
The microdrama catalogue will feature a multilingual mix of titles across genres such as romance, drama, thriller, and comedy. Key titles include Rickshaw Romeo, AutoRaja, Lady Boss, Comedy Couple, and Sweet 16, catering to diverse regional and language preferences.
With this foray, Vi continues to strengthen its positioning as a comprehensive content aggregator, expanding its offering to include emerging formats while aligning with shifting consumer consumption patterns in India’s digital entertainment landscape
