Mumbai: Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos met with writers driving Netflix India’s current slate this week, underlining the streamer’s focus on creator-led growth in one of its most important international markets.
Joined by Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India, Sarandos held an open conversation on the craft of storytelling, emerging creative opportunities, and the future of Indian entertainment for global audiences.
The meeting comes as Netflix pushes to deepen its local talent pipeline. The company recently launched the NextGen India Writers’ Program in India, its global talent development initiative, for the first time. The program is designed to support emerging Indian writers and bring more local stories to Netflix’s worldwide audience.
“Every great story begins with a unique creative voice,” Netflix said, framing the evening as part of its broader commitment to listening to writers and investing in ideas early.
India remains a key content hub for Netflix, with Indian series and films increasingly finding traction both domestically and overseas. For B2B stakeholders, producers, studios, and talent agencies, the renewed emphasis signals more development deals, structured writer programs, and long-term partnerships as Netflix scales its India slate.
The gathering also featured writers currently working on Netflix India projects, though specific titles were not disclosed.
