Kochi: JioHotstar is set to expand its regional entertainment slate with the launch of Cousins & Kalyanams, a new Malayalam romantic comedy-drama that will begin streaming from May 29. Positioned as JioHotstar’s first long-running series, the show will feature a total of 60 episodes, with four episodes scheduled to release every Friday.
Produced under the banner of The Epic Company, the series is directed by Vishnu Chandran and Kannan Thamarakkulam, and written by Praveen Balakrishnan.
Cousins & Kalyanams traces the emotional and humorous journey of six cousins over 26 years and seven weddings, blending themes of friendship, love, family conflicts and relationships. The series aims to connect with both youth and family audiences through relatable storytelling and light-hearted moments.
The show stars Nainita Maria, Nandita, Manaswini Ram, Manya Mallika, Siddharth Babu and Krishna Vijay in lead roles.
The technical crew includes cinematographer Noushad Sheriff, editor Sooraj E.S. and music composer Sudeep Palanad.
In a bid to widen its audience reach, the series will also be made available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi in addition to Malayalam.
The launch reflects the growing investment by streaming platforms in regional-language long-format content, particularly stories rooted in family relationships and culturally familiar narratives.
