Sony MAX turns Gujarati Blockbuster ‘Laalo’ into a pan-India success, tops ratings during television premiere

Mumbai: Sony MAX has reinforced its position as a destination for cinematic entertainment by successfully taking regional storytelling to a national audience with the World Television Premiere of Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate.

The channel expanded the Gujarati blockbuster’s appeal beyond its home market, introducing the film to Hindi-speaking audiences across India and transforming a regional success into a large-scale shared viewing experience.

The premiere delivered a strong response from viewers and helped Sony MAX emerge as the No. 1 channel in its time slot, outperforming all television channels in HSM Urban. The film recorded an impressive 2 million AMA (SD+HD), making it the highest-rated title in its category during Week 20 in HSM Urban.

In Gujarat Urban, the premiere registered 1.1 million AMA (SD+HD), becoming the third highest-rated premiere in the category since June 2025. Overall, 8.4 million viewers tuned in to watch the film across India. *Source: BARC, TG 15+

The strong performance of Laalo reflects the growing appetite among pan-India audiences for high-quality regional content when amplified through a national platform.

By curating stories with universal emotional appeal and bringing them to wider audiences, Sony MAX continues to strengthen its role as a bridge between regional storytelling and mainstream entertainment consumption.

The success of Laalo also underlines a broader shift in viewing preferences, where language barriers are increasingly giving way to compelling narratives and family-friendly entertainment experiences.

Positioning each premiere as more than just a telecast, Sony MAX continues to focus on creating cultural moments that bring audiences together and celebrate India’s enduring love for cinema.
