Mumbai: ALTBalaji, One of India’s leading homegrown OTT players has recently revealed a massive surge in its direct subscription revenue. Being at Rs 24 cr for H1 FY21, it has now gone up to Rs 34 cr in H1 FY22.
The subscription numbers were bound to increase substantially with the platform launching blockbusters like Cartel and Girgit. Subscriptions sold for half year FY22 stand at 2.9 M vs 1.7 M in H1FY21 and direct subscription revenues at Rs 34cr vs Rs 24cr. The Hindi hinterlands are the major contributors to the growth in ALTBalaji’s subscriptions, and ALT content strategy and pipeline will address these masses in the future as well.
While the direct subscriptions growth story of ALT continues due to aggressive and mass-based content pipeline, the pricing remains most economical in the OTT market at Rs. 300 for a one-year subscription, making it 80 paise per day.
