Mumbai: bigbasket, a TATA Enterprise, has announced the elevation of Seshu Kumar Tirumala as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), recognizing his more than a decade-long contribution to the company’s growth and evolution.
In his new role, Seshu will lead the company’s operations and play a pivotal role in driving execution as bigbasket continues to strengthen its quick commerce business and scale its operations for future growth.

He began his journey as National Head – Buying & Merchandising before advancing to the role of Chief Buying and Merchandising Officer. Over the years, he has been instrumental in building the company’s merchandising, sourcing, and category management capabilities.

He also led the development of the company’s direct farmer sourcing network, establishing a strong agricultural infrastructure through collection centres and partnerships with farmers across the country.

Commenting on the development, Hari Menon, Founder & CEO, bigbasket, said, “Seshu has played an important role in building many of the capabilities that have shaped bigbasket’s growth over the years, from our private label business to our farmer sourcing network. His deep understanding of the business and strong track record of execution make him well suited for this role. We are pleased to see him take on this expanded responsibility.”

My focus will be on strengthening the systems that power our farm-to-customer journey, enhancing execution across our operations, and ensuring we continue to deliver a seamless and dependable experience for our customers as the business grows.”
The leadership elevation reflects bigbasket’s long-standing commitment to nurturing talent from within the organization. As the company continues to expand its quick commerce footprint, Seshu’s extensive experience across sourcing, supply chain management, and customer-centric operations is expected to play a key role in driving the next phase of operational growth and business expansion.
