Chennai: IRDAI has licensed Galaxy Health Insurance Co Ltd (formerly Galaxy Health & Allied Insurance Co Ltd) as a Standalone Health Insurer. The company is a joint venture between the TVS group led by Venu Srinivasan and the family of V Jagannathan, former CMD of United India Insurance Co. Ltd and founder of Star Health & Allied Insurance Co. Ltd.
G Srinivasan, with 40 years of insurance experience, is the new MD & CEO. He has held top roles at United India Insurance Co. Ltd. and New India Assurance Co. Ltd., where he oversaw New India going public. Notably, he has also directed GIC Re and chaired the General Insurance Council.
