GroupM agency trading desk Xaxis has appointed a new leader of its business in China.
Mickey Zhang has been promoted to China MD, and will hold on to her existing job scope overseeing GroupM’s search and e-commerce capabilities in the market.
Zhang was part of the team that launched GroupM E-Commerce in China.
Patrick Xu, CEO, GroupM China, said in a statement: “Xaxis has been an integral part of GroupM’s digital strategy since the launch of its China operations in 2012. Zhang has been at the helm of GroupM’s award-winning search team in China and will no doubt be a great addition to the Xaxis team.”
Michel de Rijk, managing director, APAC at Xaxis, added: “On top of leading our existing on-the-ground team in China, Zhang’s wealth of experience and digital know-how will help take Xaxis to the next stage of our development in China,” said . “I am pleased to welcome someone of Zhang’s caliber to the Xaxis APAC management team. She is the ideal person to support our existing and future clients in developing and implementing the most effective digital strategies.”
The appointment comes a month after news emerged that GroupM is planning to launch a second agency trading desk brand as an alternative to Xaxis.
