Hindi News leads with more than 15 pc share of News genre’s Ad Volumes: TAM Report

Services sector ad volumes clock 29pc growth on Television: TAM Report

According to TAM AdEx-Report for Advertising in News genre during Jan-Jun’22, ad volumes grew by 33 pc compared to Jan-Jun’20 and by 5 pc compared to Jan-Jun’21. Mar’22 saw the highest ad volume share of 19.5 pc for the period Jan-Jun’22.

Jan-Jun’20 saw highest share of 31 pc of Ad Volumes in News genre followed by Jan-Jun’22 and Jan-Jun’21 with 28 pc share each.

During both the periods, Hindi News topped with more than 15 pc share of News genre’s Ad Volumes. Three out of Top 5 subgenres retained their ranks. Top 5 subgenres accounted for more than 55 pc share of Ad Volumes during both the periods.

In the Leading Sectors, Services topped with 17 pc share of News genre’s Ad Volumes followed by Food & Beverages with 14 pc share. Durables was the new entrant in Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21.

In the Leading Categories, Spices led the News genre with 3 pc share of ad volumes in Jan-Jun’22. Two categories each from F&B and Building, Industrial & Land Materials/Equipments sectors were present in the Top 10 list. Corporate/Brand Image, Range of OTC Products, Building Materials/Systems and Pan Masala were the new entrants among Top 10. Seven out of Top 10 categories observed positive rank shift. Three of the Top 10 Categories were New entrants in Jan-Jun’22.

205+ Categories registered Positive Growth in the Top Growing Categories. Corporate/Brand Image saw highest increase in Ad secondages, followed by Ecom-Gaming during Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21 in News Genre. In terms of growth pc among Top 10 categories, Vocational Training Institute topped with highest growth of 3.9 Times followed by Face Wash with 3.2 Times growth.

Among the Leading Advertisers, Reckitt Benckiser, GCMMF (Amul) and LIC were the Top 3 advertisers in News genre during Jan-Jun’22. Ultratech Cement, Mahashiya Di Hatti and Think & Learn were the new entrant among Top 10. Ultratech Cement moved up by 24 positions to achieve 7th rank. Top 10 Advertisers contributed 18 pc share of News genre’s Ad Volumes. FMCG Players reign the Top 10 list.

3.2 K+ advertisers advertised exclusively in News genre during Jan-Jun’22. Hari Bhoomi Communications was the top Exclusive Advertiser in News genre followed by ITV Network.

Among the Leading Brands in Jan-Jun’22, Ultratech Cement bags the top spot. Roop Mantra Cucumber Herbal Face Wash and Lizol All In 1 were the new entrants in the Top 10 list. Top 10 Brands contributed 7 pc share of News Ad Volumes.

2.8K+ Advertisers & 4.5K+ Brands exclusively advertised in the News genre during Jan-Jun’22. Playgames 24*7 and Roop Mantra Cucumber Herbal Face Wash were the top Exclusive Advertiser and Brand respectively during Jan-Jun’22 compared to Jan-Jun’21.

Prime Time was the most preferred time-band on News genre followed by Afternoon and Morning time-bands. Prime Time, Afternoon & Morning time bands together added more than 70 pc share of ad volumes.

In Jan-Jun’22, 20-40 sec on News genre witnessed 10 pc growth in Ad Volumes compared to Jan-Jun’21. Ad Commercials of 20-40 seconds were most preferred for advertising on News channels during both the periods.
