Mumbai: When the flames rise, so do the heroes. This April, witness a story that blends heart-pounding thrill, edge-of-the-seat suspense, action and deep emotion. Zee Cinema presents the World Television Premiere of Agni on Sunday, 20th April at 12 PM, a gripping drama that honors the unsung heroes of our nation. Directed by the acclaimed Rahul Dholakia, Agni is a moving tribute to the brave firefighters and first responders who risk their lives every single day. With a stellar cast led by Pratik Gandhi, Sai Tamhankar, Saiyami Kher and Divyenndu, the film takes viewers into the thrilling and intense world of emergency rescue operations, layered with a suspenseful investigation that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The story of Agni is about the resilience of everyday heroes, the emotional toll of living on the edge, and the families who stand by them in the face of uncertainty. From emotional drama to edge-of-the-seat thrills, Agni strikes a rare balance shedding light on a world rarely seen on Indian screens.
Pratik Gandhi said, “Portraying this role in Agni gave me a renewed appreciation for the sheer grit and resilience of real-life firefighters and first responders individuals who willingly step into danger to protect others. What makes this film truly special is that it opens a window into the world of firefighters – a space rarely explored in Indian cinema. Personally, it was also an exciting milestone for me, as this was my very first action film and we had an incredible time bringing it to life. Rahul Dholakia’s grounded, realistic storytelling made the journey even more fulfilling. Reuniting with Divyenndu on this project was another highlight; our camaraderie brought great energy to the set. I feel immensely proud to be part of a film that honours these unsung heroes. With Agni premiering on Zee Cinema, I’m hopeful that viewers across the country will not just enjoy the action but also connect with the emotion behind it and perhaps even start conversations about the everyday heroes who often go unnoticed.”
Divyenndu said, “When I first read the script of Agni, it felt like a true page-turner, gripping. It’s a thrilling story that unfolds like an investigation and having a filmmaker like Rahul Dholakia at the helm made it more exciting. What I admire most about Rahul is that he approaches every story with clarity and zero baggage, his storytelling is honest and fearless. For me, Agni feels like being part of something larger, something meaningful. It shines a light on unsung heroes, on everyday resilience and on the inner fire that drives people to do extraordinary things. The role challenged me physically, emotionally, mentally and I’m incredibly thankful for that. Now, with the World Television Premiere on Zee Cinema, I’m thrilled that this powerful story will reach homes across India. I hope it inspires pride in the real-life heroes living among us, just as it did for all of us involved in making the film.”
Sai Tamhankar said, “Just like a flower brings calm and joy into a space, my character in Agni adds a layer of love and warmth to an otherwise intense and high-stakes narrative. The role I play is that of a woman who is deeply rooted in her love for her family, a quiet pillar of strength. It was a challenge to portray that mindset because it required subtlety, softness, and deep emotional conviction. I also had the chance to meet real-life firefighter couples during my prep and their lives are filled with uncertainty and selfless courage. It left a lasting impact on me. This role was not just enjoyable but immensely fulfilling. It pushed me to balance vulnerability with resilience, much like those who protect us every day without expecting recognition. Now, as the film premieres on Zee Cinema, I’m thrilled that audiences across the country will get to experience this heartfelt and powerful story.”
Rahul Dholakia, Director, said, “Agni has been a seven-year journey for me. While the actual shoot was relatively swift, our main focus was on getting the portrayal of fire just right. Fire is unpredictable, dangerous and symbolic. We wanted to do justice to its presence in the story. What struck me most during the process was how little attention we actually give to firefighters in our day-to-day lives. When you travel to the West, you see the respect and reverence they receive, and it made me question why we don’t see them the same way here. As I began to meet real-life firefighters, understand their routines, their sacrifices and their courage, I was moved by how extraordinary their lives truly are. It’s a world not many of us are familiar with and that made it all the more compelling. Agni is a heartfelt salute to those unsung heroes who run into danger when everyone else is running away. With its World Television Premiere on Zee Cinema, I’m grateful that this story will now reach millions of households. I hope audiences feel the same sense of respect, emotion and admiration that we felt while making it.”
