Mumbai: Howden India has announced the appointment of Mandira Gupta as Managing Director & Head of M&A, IMEA. Based in Mumbai, Mandira will spearhead Howden’s strategic expansion in private equity and transactional risk insurance solutions across the IMEA region.
Her appointment aligns with a sharp uptick in deal activity in India. According to a recent report by Grant Thornton Bharat, Q1 2025 saw M&A and PE deals worth $5.3 billion, marking a 204% year-on-year increase in value and a 25% rise in volume compared to Q1 2024. This surge underlines the growing appetite for robust risk mitigation solutions in high-stakes transactions.
A respected name in the industry, Mandira is widely credited with building and expanding the Transaction Risk (TR) practice in India. She brings with her over 20 years of leadership experience in insurance broking and investment banking. Most recently, she served as Managing Director at Marsh India Insurance Broking, where she led the Private Equity and M&A (PEMA) practice and oversaw the TR vertical across India, the Middle East, and Africa.
Over her career, she has advised on some of India’s most complex and high-value transactions, combining deep domain expertise in M&A insurance with a solid foundation in investment banking built over nine years in India and London.
