Mumbai: According the Indian Readership Survey 2017 the Magazines Total Readership has increased by 75% that has translated in to an surge of 3.8 crore copies as per the respective periodicity basis.

The report has revealed that India Today (English) leads the most read magazines across India with 7992total readership (000s) and its Hindi version stands as the second most read magazine with 7159 (000s) total readership (TR) while Samanya Gyan Darpan is the third most highly read magazine with 6882 TR (000s) in the respective periodicity basis.

Aroon Purie

Elated with the top performance of India Today, Aroon Purie, Chairman and Editor in Chief India Today Group said, “Delighted to see the IRS set global benchmarks in sample size, design and tight monitoring. Very encouraged to see that the survey reinforces what we’ve always believed in. The magazines are far more relevant now than in the preceding years and the age of the discerning media consumer has returned. To have India Today as the most read magazine is very satisfying. To top it, India Today Hindi is a close 2nd to it’s sibling India today English and Business Today continues to be undisputed no.1 adds to the motivation of the team at India Today Group. It makes me happy and validates my belief that good editorial works. The Cross media comparison really helps us gauge the real headroom for each of the brands and there is every reason to believe that the print medium is still a very strong force to reckon with. Increasingly more relevant as consumer seeks clarity in the midst of the information explosion.“

Out of the few regional magazines seen in the top 20 magazines list, the Malayalam magazine Vanitha is the 4th most read magazines with TR of 6126 (000s). The Hindi Magazine PratiyogitaDarpan stands in the 5th place with 5924 TR (000s), followed by MeriSaheli and SarasSalil Hindu Magazines occupy the 6th and 7th positions with 4623 (000s) TR and 4318 (000s) TR respectively.
