Mumbai:JioStar, the official broadcast and digital partner of TATA IPL 2025, has announced record-breaking viewership figures for the 18th edition of the world’s premier T20 cricket league. The tournament reached a staggering one billion viewers across platforms and recorded 840 billion minutes of cumulative watch-time, making it the most-watched IPL season to date.
The final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) emerged as the most-viewed T20 match ever, amassing 31.7 billion minutes of combined watch-time across Star Sports and JioHotstar. On TV alone, the match drew in 169 million viewers and 15 billion minutes of watch-time, while JioHotstar recorded 892 million views, 55 million peak concurrency, and 16.74 billion minutes of digital watch-time.
JioHotstar led the digital surge with 23.1 billion views and a 29% YoY growth in watch-time, driven largely by a 49% increase in Connected TV (CTV) viewership, reflecting India’s shift to large-screen digital consumption. Meanwhile, Star Sports delivered 456 billion minutes of linear watch-time, backed by the highest-ever average TVR across all key demographics.

Sanjog Gupta, CEO – Sports and Live Experiences, JioStar, said, “The incredible viewership numbers are reinforcement of our belief in the commitment to serve fans and the potential for growth of even a scaled property like the TATA IPL.”
“We had a two-pronged approach this season. We wanted to widen the consideration for the tournament experience, by focusing on key viewer cohorts which had a light-touch relationship with IPL while also offering a deep, navigable consumer journey to grow engagement with committed fans. From non-viewers and fringe viewers co-viewing the IPL to deeply immersed fanatics, JioStar offered customized offerings for a wide spectrum of distinct cohorts defined by age, consumption profile and region. From the invite and proposition to the broadcast, we were committed to delivering hyper-personalized experiences that are inclusive, intuitive, interactive, and immersive. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the fans, whose passion and love for the game inspires us. We would also thank BCCI and our partners, whose support is critical in our endeavor to constantly raise the bar on industry-defining experiences we offer on our platforms,” he added.
The IPL 2025 season was also notable for key sporting milestones, including Virat Kohli’s maiden IPL title, and 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history. JioStar’s innovation-led presentation included MaxView 2.0, regional FAST channels, voice-based video search, and VOD in 12 languages, along with 4K streaming, VR 360 Live, Indian Sign Language commentary, and more.
Despite a mid-season suspension, the tournament sustained high engagement, reflecting the theme “Yahaan Sab Possible Hai.” The opening weekend alone drew 49.56 billion minutes of watch-time — an all-time IPL record.
Looking ahead, JioStar will stream India’s tour of England, beginning June 20, with the much-anticipated clash between Shubman Gill’s ‘Generation Bold’ and Ben Stokes’ ‘Bazball’ England side.
