Mumbai: Lionsgate Play has announced a major expansion of its Hollywood content strategy, unveiling a slate of over 100 premieres in 2026 alongside the return of its popular series Heated Rivalry Season 2, slated for 2027. Marking a significant strategic shift, the platform is adopting a screen-agnostic approach, introducing a theatrical-first model for select premium titles before their exclusive streaming debut.
As part of this move, Lionsgate Play will bring 10–12 high-profile Hollywood films to Indian cinemas ahead of their release on the platform, beginning September 2026. The curated slate includes titles featuring global stars such as Russell Crowe, Gerard Butler, Robert Pattinson, and Mark Wahlberg, reflecting the platform’s focus on delivering cinematic-scale experiences across both theatres and streaming.
This approach positions Lionsgate Play among a select group of platforms bridging theatrical and digital releases in a seamless, integrated manner. The platform continues to strengthen its identity as a destination for high-impact storytelling, combining blockbuster Hollywood content with globally acclaimed series and regional offerings.
Building on its existing portfolio of action-driven and critically acclaimed titles, Lionsgate Play’s 2026 lineup will feature a strong mix of star-led films and franchise expansions. Upcoming titles include Greenland 2: Migration, Mutiny, Couture, Famous, and The Rivals of Amziah King, along with new additions to the popular ‘Has Fallen’ franchise and returning series like Vigil Season 3. The slate is further complemented by a growing regional content lineup, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to diverse and engaging storytelling.

Commenting on the announcement, Rohit Jain, Founder – Lionsgate Play Asia, shared, “Over the past few years, we’ve built Lionsgate Play into a destination for bold, high-impact storytelling. In 2026, we’re delivering on that vision at full scale, with 100+ premieres, returning franchises, and now, the big screen itself under one roof. Our move into theatrical-first releases marks an important step, giving films the cinematic scale they deserve while ensuring a seamless journey to streaming. As the industry evolves, we’re embracing a more integrated approach across theatrical and digital windows. This next phase is about backing stronger stories, collaborating with compelling talent, and building a platform audiences keep coming back to. From big screen experiences to premium streaming, this is our most ambitious chapter yet.”
