NDTV India Bolsters Prime-Time Lineup with Digital News Star Shubhankar Mishra

New Delhi: In a move that underscores its ongoing editorial transformation, NDTV India has announced the onboarding of Shubhankar Mishra—one of India’s most influential digital news creators—as the face of its prime-time programming from July 2025. With a digital footprint exceeding 30 million followers across platforms, Mishra’s entry signals NDTV’s intent to merge grassroots field reportage with high-impact broadcast journalism.

Mishra, who began his career in mainstream television before pivoting to independent field reporting via social platforms, has earned credibility for his coverage from underserved regions and crisis-hit geographies—including flood-affected areas in Assam during the pandemic. Known for spotlighting stories beyond headline cycles, his content often becomes the catalyst for wider media attention.

“This is not just a programming decision—it’s a strategic editorial realignment,” said Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV. “Shubhankar represents the new generation of Indian journalists—field-driven, digitally native, and trusted by millions. At NDTV, we are building an ecosystem that amplifies such voices and redefines the future of Hindi news.”

Mishra’s upcoming show aims to recalibrate the tone and texture of prime-time Hindi journalism. With an editorial philosophy that prioritizes the citizen voice over panel theatrics, the program will focus on issues often overlooked in mainstream discourse—connecting Bharat to itself, through direct, accountability-driven storytelling.

Mishra’s return to television also reflects broader shifts in Indian media, where digital-native journalists are increasingly transitioning into legacy platforms, bringing with them an engaged audience base and a new grammar of storytelling.

“NDTV is one of the few spaces that still encourages asking the hard questions,” Mishra said, explaining his decision to return to television. “This move is not about comfort; it’s about purpose.”

NDTV’s investment in field-first journalism is part of a larger editorial strategy involving digital-first formats, platform convergence, and enhanced regional coverage. The initiative aligns with its vision to serve a rapidly evolving Indian audience that consumes news across mediums but demands depth, trust, and on-ground authenticity.
