Mumbai: Prime Video has announced June 12 as the exclusive worldwide streaming premiere date for Tamil blockbuster Karuppu, one of the biggest Tamil films of the year. Following a record-breaking theatrical run, the fantasy action drama will debut on the streaming platform in Tamil, along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, and as Veerabhadrudu in Telugu, reaching audiences across India and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
Directed by RJ Balaji and produced by S R Prakashbabu and S R Prabhu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures, Karuppu features music composed by Sai Abhyankkar. The film is headlined by Suriya and stars RJ Balaji, Trisha Krishnan and Indrans in key roles.
Blending mythology, action, courtroom drama and social commentary, the film follows guardian deity Vettai Karuppu, who takes human form as a lawyer to fight corruption within a judicial system that exploits ordinary people.
The streaming premiere forms part of Prime Video’s blockbuster entertainment lineup ahead of Amazon Prime Day, which returns to India this July for its tenth edition.
