Chennai : The leading Hindi GEC Colors and Sun TV Network in South will live telecast the 5th Season of the start studded ”Celebrity Cricket League” (CCL) T20 league starting from January 10th to 1st February 2015.
The 5th edition of Celebrity Cricket League CCL 5 twenty20 tourney will kick start on 10th January 2015, with the opening match of Mumbai Heroes Vs Veer Marathi played at CCI Stadium, Mumbai.
Similar to CCL 4 the Celebrity Cricket League 5 will have 8 cricket teams separated in two pools with 4 teams each and the top two teams of league stage in each pool will reach into semi finals and there on to Finals. The matches will be played in Mumbai (at the Brabourne Stadium), Hyderabad (LB Stadium), Ranchi (JSCA Stadium), Bangalore (Chinnaswamy) and Ahmedabad (Sardar Patel).
While Sun TV will be airing the CCL 5 matches in all the four South regional languages through its GECs in all the four languages, Colors and its secondary GEC Rishtey TV will cover the Hindi audience nationwide.
As confirmed by CCL, Gemini TV will cover AndhraPradesh and Telangana by airing all matches of Telugu Warriors including semi-finals and finals, Sun TV will cover the audience Tamil Nadu by airing all matches of Chennai Rhinos including semi-finals and finals, Surya TV will cater to the Kerala audience by airing all matches of Kerala Blasters including semi-finals and finals and Udaya TV for Karnatala audience by airing all Karnataka Bulldozers matches including semi-finals and finals.
Similarly Maharashtra and Rest of North India audience will be reached through Colors and Rishtey TV channels and the channel will air all Mumbai Heroes, Veer Marathi, Bhojpuri Dabanggs and Bengal Tigers matches including semi-finals and finals.
The league has roped in XXX Energy Drink as the title sponsor while Parle 20-20 cookies comes on board as associate sponsor. Karbonn is the Mobile Partner of CCL 5 while Panasonic joins as the co-presenting sponsor for the event.

Recently, Chennai Rhinos has announced the change of Captainship as Actor Jeeva will be replacing Actor Vishal, as the later has expressed his inability to participate in this year’s event. It is understood that the change of Captaincy from Vishal to Jeeva is a development due to the formers collision course with the office bearers of Nadigar Sangam, Trade Body that represents Tamil film Artists.
