Touted as one of the biggest deals in the history of the tech world, US billionaire Elon Musk has taken control of the microblogging social media platform Twitter. Reportedly, Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion, with shares valued at $54.20. The publicly traded firm will now become a private company owned by Musk.
Musk, in a statement, said that he wants to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating spam bots, and authenticating all humans.
“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital townsquare where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated. “Twitter has tremendous potential—I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it,” Musk said.

At the same time, Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal reportedly told employees the future of the social media firm is uncertain after the deal to be taken private under Elon Musk closes. Musk will join Twitter staff for a question-and-answer session at a later date, the company told employees.
