Uber calls on all riders to prioritize safety through its ‘Safer For Each Other’ campaign

Gurgaon: Uber today launched a new marketing campaign, ‘Safer For Each Other’, to underscore that safety, too, can spread if each rider sanitizes their hands, wears a mask, and doesn’t travel when sick, thereby making the entire platform safer for the next rider.

By sharing the responsibility of the safety and taking all appropriate measures, riders can start a chain reaction whereby each rider makes the platform safer for the next one boarding the car. The campaign highlights ‘self-care spreads safety’. Through this campaign, Uber will reach out to its riders through a 360-degree amplification plan to ensure greater awareness about rider safety.

The campaign film features several riders urging future riders to ensure personal safety and hygiene by following all necessary steps to keep themselves, the driver, as well as the next rider safe.

Speaking on the launch, Pavan Vaish, Head of Central Operations, Uber India and South Asia said, ”At Uber, the safety of everyone who uses our platform is a priority. The post-lockdown world is different from before, and we have to re-learn and re-adapt. Through the #SaferForEachOther campaign, we aim to spread the message that every rider’s indulgence in their personal safety not only makes the driver safer but also every trip that follows.”

Over the past few months, Uber has launched a comprehensive set of safety measures, such as the Go Online Checklist and a mandatory mask policy for both riders and drivers, pre-trip mask verification selfies for drivers, mandatory driver education around Covid-19 related safety protocols, and an updated cancellation policy where both riders and drivers can cancel trips if they don’t feel safe. Complementing these measures, Uber is distributing over 3 million masks and 200,000 bottles of disinfectants and sanitizers to its drivers, free of cost.

With this campaign, Uber recognizes that only together can we combat the threat of COVID-19.
