After the acquisition of Radio One by HT Media, Harshad Jain, leads the combined entity as the CEO – Radio & Entertainment, HT Media and Next Mediaworks and is at the helm of three national radio stations namely, Fever FM, Radio Nasha and Radio One.
Harshad Jain, lists the most important points of Focus for the radio and entertainment business of the conglomerate in 2020.
One of the primary focus areas for the year 2020 would be to pivot from being just a radio company to a digital first, platform agnostic organization. With the industry undergoing a paradigm shift towards digitisation, both the consumers and brands are now expecting solutions across platforms.
It hence becomes imperative for us to use new digital channels to reach the digital audience and work on amplifying the current revenue stream. One of the major headways into this area is our entry into Podcasts. India is witnessing an unprecedented podcast boom with the millennials growing affinity towards on-demand content. We as a network have already forayed into this space with our shows available as podcastable content across Spotify, Apple music, Hubhopper, HTSmartcast and many other distribution platforms. In the coming year, one of our primary objectives would be to make significant headway into this area.
Revisiting the fundamentals
In the day to day rut of managing an organization, one often forgets the fundamentals of the business. Specially in the current pressures of the economy, it becomes critical to remember the basics and ensure that they are inbuilt in the company’s ecosystem. For the Year 2020, Fever FM would have a sharp focus on revisiting the fundamentals that have helped evolve the brands customer first approach with strong client relationships, micro retailing and providing innovative solutions.
2019 was a significant year for us, marking the acquisition of Radio One. With the acquisition, we are now one of the strongest players in Metros, with 22 stations, presence across 8 metro cities plus U.P. The presence of 3 differentiated stations in our network (Fever FM, Radio One and Radio Nasha) gives us an edge over our competition, allowing us to reach out to a wide and distinct customer universe. The objective now for the year 2020 is to achieve positive growth from the three business units by combining the power of three.
Execution excellence plays apivotal role in the success of an organisation. As a company we are armed with the right ammunition to power through and continue our market leadership. However, it becomes critical to ensure excellence in delivery at every step and at every team level – programming, sales, marketing, client solutions etc. While execution excellence is in the DNA of Fever, we would continue to treat this as a critical focus area in 2020.
