Never mind that it is not a Rajinikanth starrer (extended cameo) and Kapil Dev is understandably playing only a cameo. It all adds up. Hope the movie directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth lives up to the expectations it is building.

The former Union Law Minister will be in charge of Earth Sciences. As newspaper reports point out following the news of his new mandate, frequent run-ins with the judiciary could have been the driver. There are two sides to every story. It’s getting exciting. Every year, at some point of the IPL, and definitely towards the end of the tournament if not earlier, there’s talk about a script at play. Oftentimes, accusers say the whole thing is fixed. Nevertheless, people watch IPL for the sportainment value it offers and there are enough people who rubbish the rumours with the logic that it would be impossible to fix the entire tournament. If there was any scripting done this year, up until noon on 19th May, I think it has been done brilliantly. To keep everyone guessing on who the other three teams in the playoffs will be, with only five league matches left to play, is great for cricket, the fans, media involved and advertisers.

This is cruel trolling. When the motivation is wrong, it shouldn’t be encouraged. Even if some of the jokes are hilarious. The lady recalling an immigration staffer not believing her (about her address in London being 10 Downing Street) might have been the trigger. But as other posts show, the guns were loaded with hate – owing to her making an insensitive and optically incorrect comment on communal politics. There are always sane voices if you bother to look. Like the last post here reiterates. Let’s give the lady a break. The episode also offers a valuable lesson that in the era of invasive TV cameras, media and social media, it’s better to say nothing than be caught saying something that could be blown up. Kipling wrote, “If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools…” Rings true.
