Mumbai : After launching its French service GEC, Zee Magic into Africa, top Indian media company Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) today announced the expansion of its services to the Indian Ocean island nations neighbouring the continent with the launch of a new channel.
The launch of Zee Magic took place at the annual Discop Conference here, which is being attended by television content producers and broadcasters from all over the world.
Zee Magic, a customised general entertainment channel, dubbed in French to accommodate the Francophone audience, will be broadcast by the channel Parabole Maurice in Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros, Reunion Island and Seychelles.
“Zee Magic is tailored for all types of viewers – movie fanatics, avid series followers, food lovers, reality show enthusiasts and much more,” ZEE TV South Africa’s CEO Harish Goyal said.
“We have launched with three award winning series, Remariage (Punar Vivah), La Promesse (Kasam Se) and Lien Sacre (Pavitra Rishta), as well as a few blockbuster Bollywood movies,” Goyal added.
“The expansion of Zee Magic to the Indian Ocean Island countries is an indication of the hunger Africa has for Bollywood and Indian content,” said Goyal.
ZEEL first ventured into Africa 19 years ago as the brand’s first international territory in a partnership with South African subscription channel broadcaster Multichoice on its DSTV platform, where it is consistently among the most-watched channels on the service.
