Mumbai: Following a successful theatrical run and widespread critical acclaim, ZEE5 has announced the World Digital Premiere of Tighee on 15th May 2026. Directed by Jeejivisha Kale in her feature film debut and produced by Supri Advertising and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the Marathi drama delves into themes of family, emotional distance, and unresolved relationships.
The film centres around Swati Ranade-Karnik, played by Nehha Pendse Bayas, a 40-year-old woman whose seemingly stable life in Mumbai begins to unravel amid mounting financial and personal struggles. When she learns that her estranged mother Hemalata Ranade, portrayed by Bharati Achrekar, is nearing the end of her life, Swati returns to Pune and reunites with her younger sister Sarika, played by Sonalee Kulkarni.
The reunion forces the three women to confront years of resentment, emotional wounds, and unresolved conflicts, while grappling with their mother’s wish to spend her final days in hospice care. Set within a home layered with memories and silences, the film explores how sacrifice, secrets, and emotional distance shape family bonds.
The ensemble cast also includes Nipun Dharmadhikari, Jaimini Pathak, Pushkaraj Chirputkar, Suvrat Joshi, Mrinmayee Godbole, and Sanjay Mone in key roles.

Speaking about the premiere, Hema V.R., Chief Channel Officer – Zee Marathi and Business Head – ZEE5 Marathi said, “At ZEE5, we are committed to telling stories that are deeply rooted in human experiences and emotional truths. Tighee is an intimate and thought-provoking film that explores familial relationships with honesty and sensitivity. We are delighted to present its world digital premiere and take this compelling story to audiences across the globe.”
Director Jeejivisha Kale added, “Tighee is a deeply personal story that reflects the silences and emotional complexities within families. I believe that what is personal is also universal, and this film is my attempt to tell a story with honesty and vulnerability. The response during its theatrical run has been incredibly encouraging, and I’m grateful that with ZEE5, the film will now reach a much wider audience.”
Nehha Pendse Bayas said, “Swati is a character layered with vulnerability, strength, and quiet conflict. What drew me to Tighee was its honesty, how it portrays the emotional weight we carry in relationships and the things we often leave unsaid. This story felt deeply real, and I’m excited for audiences to experience it on ZEE5.”
Sonalee Kulkarni added, “Sarika is someone who has lived with responsibility, sacrifice, and suppressed emotions for years. The film explores the dynamics between the three women with great sensitivity and depth. I believe Tighee will resonate with anyone who has experienced complicated family relationships, and with its premiere on ZEE5, I’m glad it will now reach even more audiences.”
The World Digital Premiere of Tighee will stream exclusively on ZEE5 from 15th May 2026.
